my obvious obsession

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Cleaning out files and space on my computer, I end up deleting so many images, so many memories. With each file of photographs I open, I revisit the photography session – in detail – the laughter & the smiles, weather strategies, the beauty, reflecting on all the wonderful people I have had the opportunity to meet & who have allowed me into their lives.

I am brought right back to the sounds of the playground, capturing Spiderman ‘fly’ on the swing. I feel the cool shade of the woods and damp earth as I watch ‘magic’ make a teen aged girl smile as I press the shutter. I recall the quiet pride in height of a high school senior, the late autumn colors as a fleeting back drop. The love for a fairy granddaughter, a mom giggling on the swings with her quickly maturing pre-teen daughter.

Then, the moment of realization that I have an obvious obsession!

I have a large portfolio of photographs of… feet! Different than a shoe fetish, it doesn’t matter to me if there are shoes on my subjects’ feet or not. Summer feet, fresh from the lake feet, playground worthy, in her sparkly shoes she won’t take off or dainty fairy toes with purple polish – it’s all fair game to me.

This moment will last for a split second.

Those sparkly shoes won’t fit her feet six months from now. The Crocs will be worn out by the end of summer. The Converse…well…don’t throw those out yet.WAVphoto fairy feet

Perspective is what allows us to enjoy the beauty of the present moment.
