You won’t understand the unabashed power of community until you’re part of one. Overwhelming emotions watching #teamphoenix athletes finish their open water, race distance swim practice last night with coaches, medical staff & volunteers cheering them to the end. The Little Moskego Lake community opens their homes, waterfront property and hearts for this practice-many arriving on SUPs and kayaks to line the course to encourage & support. Athletes have overcome #cancer and have signed up to train for 12 weeks and participate in a sprint distance triathlon. Many of these incredible women had never swam before. As each one came closer to the end of the course the cheers of support grew more intense especially from their teammates. The hugs at the end bond women together for a lifetime. I’m honored to have watched one athlete in particular overcome fear & anxiety with every swim stroke. When she finished and was embraced by her teammates, tears of joy streamed down my face!
